Stability and time-delay effect of rainfall-induced landslide considering air entrapment

Abstract The pore air pressure of the soil layer has an obstructive effect on infiltration rainfall-induced landslide. Therefore, hydraulic hysteresis caused by entrapment in process slope also reduces anti-sliding force slope. A method considered closed gas particles’ pores is developed to study time-delay and stability during rainfall. Green–Ampt model used obtain explicit analytical solution considering entrapment. Moreover, relationship between safety factor, rainfall duration, depth wetting front under three conditions ( q rain = 10, 26, 51 mm/h) discussed. results show that causes a significant landslide, strongest condition heavy mm/h). air-entrapment will have supporting reduce normal stress.
